Blog Post 4: EFFECTS OF BULLYING TO PEOPLE

What is the effects of bullying to people? What kind of pain will you feel if your being bullied? When I was 10 I've experience being bullied I was a transferee in a private school in Laguna. The effects of bullying to me was I want to be strong so other can't bully me anymore and then later turned into a bully. Some people maybe can't handle the kind of stress they get from being bullied and worst they end up killing themselves.

In this article, according to Louise Arseneault from http://theconversation.com/the-health-impact-of-childhood-bullying-can-last-a-lifetime-26541 "There are some hypotheses that bullying victimization is a form of “toxic stress” that can have an impact on physiological responses to childhood adversity. In turn, these responses may help explain why some victims develop health problems.
Mental and physical health problems are often related and although young children are generally healthy, research has started to show that bullied children tend to become adults with health problems."

Because of the stress that bullying gave to the victim sometimes end up being mentally ill because of the trauma of the victim experience even the bullying is stop.

In this article, according to the authors , led by William E. Copeland at Duke University Medical Center http://theconversation.com/the-health-impact-of-childhood-bullying-can-last-a-lifetime-26541"The new Duke research on the inflammatory process adds to a growing body of evidence that demonstrates that we need to move away from the perception that bullying is harmless and part of normal growing up. Instead, bullying should be considered as another form of toxic stress with potentially profound effects on mental and physical health. These effects have been repeatedly observed in childhood and increasingly so in adolescence and in adulthood too."

If you are a victim of bullying make it the source of your strength to strive for the better you and prove to others that your not the type of person that you can harm by bullying. Take it to me.

What is bullying? Violence? Harassment physically or mentally? We all know that bullying is both physical and mental harassment, making fun of the weaker guy in a group or different from others. It is the misuse of power towards one person or group.

Why do people Bully?

Why bullies bully others? What is the cause or why did it start? Now in our generation too adult is being bullied by others or young people. There are different causes of bullying or why bullies bully other. Some causes of bullying starts in family or experience what the bully himself and divert it to others.

In this article shows the different causes of bullying http://www.bullyingstatistics.org/content/why-do-people-bully.html   this article show how bullying started or triggered by the environment.

" Social Issues  The fact that one gets more social recognition for negative behaviors than for positive ones can also contribute to reasons why people bully. Situation comedies and reality television, as well as real life situations in schools, for example, show that acting out is more likely to get noticed than oneself behaving civilly and courteously. Jealousy or envy and a lack of personal and social skills to deal with such feelings can also be reasons why people bully.
Family Issues  Families that are not warm and loving and in which feelings are not shared are more likely to have children who bully, either within the family home or in other locations in which the children meet others. Another home environment that is prone to producing bullies is one in which discipline and monitoring are inconsistent and / or a punitive atmosphere exists. "

Power is also a cause of bullying. The hunger in power or authority other so they can control, like our history wars are triggered because they want to rule other lands. Or like in this article say's it also triggered by people differences. http://nobullying.com/why-do-people-bully/
"One of the primary reasons children participate in bullying behavior is because they do not know how to handle differences between people . For instance, they may bully children who are gay or those who are not good at sports. Anytime children exhibit behaviors that are different from the other children, it can make them a potential target. While some children are incredibly tolerant and even ignorant of the differences, there are others who notice them and just do not handle them appropriately. This is often one of the easiest types of bullying to remedy with education and compassion. "

Parents should teach their children do not do unto others what you do not want other to do to you and they should respect other people.

Blog Post 3: WHAT IS CYBER BULLYING?

When you hear about what cyber bullying first thing that comes to mind? From me, cyber bullying is one of the most common forms of bullying in this century. Time gone by and many things in this world, especially when it comes to evolve in our technology. Communication is as easy as one two three. We communicate through social media like Facebook, Twitter, Instagram and other sites. According to http://stopcyberbullying.org/what_is_cyberbullying_exactly.html, "cyber bullying" is when a child, preteen or teen is tormented, threatened, harassed, humiliated, embarrassed or otherwise targeted by another child, preteen or teen using the Internet, interactive and digital technologies or mobile phones. "

Cyber bullying is one of the most harmful bullying tactics because of the easy access to their victims. The bullies often post rumors or nasty comments to someone's Facebook wall for example.
In this article, according to Sameer Hinduja and Justin W. Patchin from http://cyberbullying.us/publications/journal-articles/, "Cyberbullying is a problem affecting a meaningful proportion of youth as they embrace online communication and interaction. Research has identified a number of real-world negative ramifications for both the targets and those who bully. During adolescence, many behavioral choices are influenced and conditioned by the role of major socializing agents, including friends, family, and adults at school. The purpose of this study was to determine the extent to which peers, parents, and educators influence the cyberbullying behaviors of adolescents. To explore this question, data were analyzed from a random sample of approximately 4,400 sixth through twelfth grade students (49% female; 63% nonwhite) from thirty-three schools in one large school district in the southern United States. Results indicate that cyberbullying offending is associated with perceptions of peers behaving similarly, and the likelihood of sanctions by adults. Specifically, youth who believed that many of their friends were involved bullying and cyberbullying in themselves were more likely to report cyberbullying behaviors. At the same time, respondents who believed that the adults in their life would punish them for cyberbullying were less likely to participate. Implications for schools and families are discussed with the goal of mitigating this behavior and its negative outcomes among adolescent populations. "

Good thing there is a law against cyber bullying. "The Cybercrime Prevention Act of 2012, officially recorded as Republic Act No. 10175, is a law in the Philippines approved on September 12, 2012. It aims to address legal issues concerning online interactions and the Internet in the Philippines. Among the cybercrime offenses included in the bill are cybersquatting, cybersex, child pornography, identity theft, illegal access to data and libel." This law providing the prevention of this kind of bullying but nevertheless, if we can't take a small action just to stop talking about people and hurt them through social media this bullying won't end.

Blog Post 2: BULLYING IN OUR SOCIETY

When I was in grade school, I'm not an exemption in bullying. As a young age I already feel rejected and left out and everyone was calling me names.

According to Amy Weber from http://www.huffingtonpost.com/amy-weber/how-our-society-has-manif_b_1548368.html, "Since we've launched the campaign for The Bully Chronicles last week, there have been and least five more suicides, including a 7-year-old Detroit boy who allegedly hanged himself. Bullying is suspected offenders in each case. Even with almost nightly bullying featured in the news, on the big screen and as one of the most prominent topics facing school boards, these tragedies keep coming. There is a lot of talk but still no tangible solutions. It is truly like this issue is too big to take on individually or within a community and it appears to be swallowing my whole youth, right before our very eyes. "

"Bullying is a multi-layered epidemic. It's like a disease that cultivates and feeds off of the bloodline of social acceptance and like-minded opinion, fueled by fear and pain so deep, it is subconscious."

Yes indeed it is a very serious case, yet some people ignore this issue. From this social experimental video by Yousef Erakat, we can see how society deals with bullying. People pay no attention on the said matter which is depressing.

It is devastating that at the end of the day people did not take action on it despite of all the news and articles about bullying. You? How would you react if you see someone being bullied? Someone might need your help. Take action now.
